Super Alarm does not require an account and does not use advertising or cross-app tracking. Alarm content and scan data stay on your device. We use PostHog and Sentry to understand product use, diagnose failures, and improve alarm reliability.

What Super Alarm does

Super Alarm helps you wake up by requiring an intentional scan for alarm dismissal. Android and iOS can recognize an enrolled household object or scan a QR code. On Android, alarms open a full-screen ringing flow. On iOS, scheduled notifications open the dismissal flow when tapped.

Data stored on your device

  • Alarm settings such as time, days, sound, and label
  • QR location labels and payloads you create
  • Enrolled object labels and on-device visual fingerprints
  • One small representative object thumbnail per enrolled Android object
  • Reliability checklist state
  • Recent alarm attempts and results
  • Local diagnostic events

Camera video and all other scan frames are discarded. None of this data is sent to Super Alarm servers automatically. It never leaves your device unless you explicitly export and share it.

Camera

The camera is used to scan QR codes and to create and compare visual fingerprints for object-based alarm dismissal. Camera data is processed on device and is never uploaded. Android retains one representative thumbnail for each enrolled object so you can recognize it in the app; other camera images and video are not stored.

Permissions on Android

  • Notifications to deliver alarm alerts
  • Exact Alarm for precise alarm scheduling
  • Full-Screen Intent to show the ringing screen over the lock screen
  • Foreground Service to keep alarm audio playing
  • Wake Lock to keep the screen on during ringing
  • Vibration for tactile alarm feedback
  • Camera for QR and object scanning
  • Boot Restore to reschedule alarms after restart

Diagnostics export

You can export a local JSON file containing alarm settings, QR location data, enrolled object labels and visual fingerprints, Android thumbnail file names, recent attempts, and diagnostic events. Object thumbnail images are excluded. This file stays under your control. If you send it to support, support receives it solely for troubleshooting.

Anonymous analytics

PostHog Cloud US receives anonymous product events such as viewed surfaces, onboarding progress, permission outcomes, alarm-delivery stages, dismissal method, bounded timing and attempt counts, app version, platform, operating-system and device details, and marketing page or store-link actions. PostHog may use the request IP address to derive coarse location. We do not send alarm labels, object labels, QR payloads, camera frames, thumbnails, visual fingerprints, notification text, or diagnostics exports. The app never identifies you with an email address or account profile. You can turn off PostHog analytics at any time with Share anonymous analytics in Health on Android or Settings on iOS.

Crash and performance diagnostics

Sentry receives crashes, Android ANRs, iOS hangs, handled operational failures, Worker errors, app version, build number, platform, device and operating-system context, and performance traces. Default personally identifying data, screenshots, view hierarchies, replay, and private product content are disabled. Crash reporting is used to maintain the service and is separate from the PostHog analytics toggle.

Service providers and retention

PostHog processes analytics in the United States. Sentry processes mobile and site diagnostics in its European region. Cloudflare hosts this site and retains sampled operational request logs for security and reliability. We retain this information only while it is useful for product reliability and remove it according to our configured provider retention controls. You can email support to request more information or deletion of data that can be located from the details you provide.

Deleting your data

Deleting an enrolled Android object also deletes its thumbnail. Uninstall Super Alarm or clear app storage from Android settings to erase all local data. Android backup is disabled for this app. Exported files can be deleted from your device at any time.
